I have this strange desire of being around less and less people. A group doesn’t suit me. I prefer solitude and some me-time. This desire doesn’t stem from the fact that I am doing something substantial in life. It’s far away from it. Just alone. I am not an artsy person who would make able use of the time. Just shy of being a introvert when it comes to communication. Continue reading Thapar ke Raste
sophos: (verb) the act of being denied access to an online resource in Thapar due to botched up mentality of the administration;
(noun) the great Firewall of Thapar erected by The Holiest, The Venerable, The Sanctimonious, The Greatest of The Greatest, The King of the Kings, The Ignoramus – Center for Information Technology and Management (CITM, TIET) to protect the soft and innocent students from the harsh vagaries of the Big Bad World;
Sigh! I didn’t mean to start off like this. But circumstances have changed. Sophos is activated and hell took a new name and verb. To the uninitiated, this is the name of the network infrastructure used by Thapar to provide internet services.
The start of every new semester brings in new hopes, new positivity and new dreams of ‘undoing’ the wrongs of the previous semester. It starts with a quiet and solemn but seldom kept resolution of maintaining a notebook for each subject. The desire to attend classes to not be in a position to cringe and beg for the 75% at the end of the semester. Also, a little promise, a prayer of sorts meant to the powers that be for good grades. So much of optimism, isn’t it? If only I could live up to my words… Continue reading How We Overcame Sophos and Won Tata Crucibles
The year is coming to a close and it suddenly dawned upon me that I have been seriously negligent towards my blog. At the beginning of the 2017, I had taken up a resolution – More blog posts and more reading and writing. Sigh!
Seldom has any resolution of mine made its way past January. I am very at it.
But I don’t really have anything to post here. So much for writing. Meh! After going through my computer, I came across some of the images I have taken over the past month. I have this tendency of taking photos of whatever catches my eye. There isn’t a single one of me though. I don’t generally boast of my skills (not that I have any except being the sole maintainer of my blog). I thought that I could do something worthwhile with these. Quick and easy way out. There are a few things in Thapar which are so good that you would want to sit back, relax and lavish praise on them. But it wouldn’t come through words; language would fail you. It wouldn’t come through actions either; you would be overwhelmed. How it happens is unique to everyone of us.
The Fine Arts and Photographic Society (FAPS) perhaps is the crux of the whole gamut of such things. Now, I know the acronym is a misnomer and would invite a few chuckles or hmmm from people, but this has been the traditions since beginning. Why the authorities decided to go on with the name and that too in an ‘engineering college’ is matter of different proportions. Continue reading Kaleidoscope 2017
It’s 8:50 AM and Microsoft’s Weather App is showing it is 15°C in Patiala, Punjab. And there’s Fog. My lips edged itself towards a smile. I love winters and I love fog! Never had I experienced such winters in Jamshedpur where people would rush to the Tibetan Market at the beginning of November when the temperature search on Google barely showed 17°. And there was no fog (read never, except one or two days at the end of December).
Make no mistakes here. I am not from Delhi (so would not proclaim a Dil Walo ki Dilli). Ergo my lungs breathe in fresh air with no PM2.5 gibberish in the atmosphere so my fondness is completely natural. It is not smog. My eyes don’t get irritated and I do not need to cover my mouth. It’s beautiful in here. White. Wherever the eyes go, everything is covered with dew drops. The plants look clean and yes, my cycle is washed every day. Every morning when I rush to the cycle stand to go to my classes, I can see barely 3 feet and it’s so chilly. It’s the best time of the year. People huddle together, come late to class, get reprimanded by the Professors and then go back to their slumber state as soon as they hit the bench. And it is the season of momos and coffee! Two things I will forever be a fan of. Continue reading A Wintry Morning Post

Place – Room
A103 A102, Hostel B, Thapar University, Patiala
Reason – Coursework. ’nuff said.
Do not mistake this for your usual CS-FIFA-DOTA session in progress. Some highly productive and fundamental things were cracked during the 15 minutes time frame on that hot and dry day. The residents of Hostel B will live long to tell the coming generations of their victory.
Edit – Apparently some of the residents who were so kind enough to visit my blog had misgivings about the veracity of the Room number. So my fellow reader, this event happened at Room A102 and not A103. The writer asks for forgiveness for leading you to the wrong path. *peace out*
This is a really long post. Be patient cause there is no TL;DR for this one.
February 2011, Jamshedpur – On an early bright late winter morning, with The Telegraph in my hand, the cup of tea and the necessary Marie biskoot I began to flip through the pages of the paper. In the local Jamshedpur pullout section (Yes, Telegraph was generous back in the 2011 era) I came across the news report of the city leg of Tata Crucible Campus Edition. Curiosity took over me. I never realized that there was a national level quiz for college too. A few teaser questions were also given and surprisingly I could answer one or two. I was happy that I could at least answer (read try) college level quiz question. And thus began my acquaintance with Tata Crucible.
August 2016, Patiala – Coming to Thapar University for my undergraduate studies, I had decided that I would be involved into extra-curricular activities just like the school days. Continue reading Of Tata Crucibles and Mid Sessionals
My last post was some 8 months ago and to be frank I have grown to be much lazy to update my blog regularly as I used to do earlier. The reasons are myriad and stupid (and also treacherous) not worthy enough but still I will write it here so that they can serve as a precursor to the coming babble.
Didn’t read any books any books in these 8 months.
Away from Home. The missing of homemade food threw my creative senses to a haywire.
Procrastination. ‘Ok tomorrow’ gave way to the day after tomorrow.
Thought maintaining a blog is a useless hobby. Who reads what I write? Who cares? Continue reading Back from Hibernation
