I went to Kerala (it’s a state in South India) in December 2011 along with my family on a vacation. I had expected just the usual sights – lungi clad men, coconut trees, beaches, rubber plantations et cetera. But what I really saw there was completely exhilarating and enchanting! Words cannot merely describe the scenes and the serene atmosphere. Truly Kerala is God’s Own Country.

Edit –
February, 2019. Patiala, Punjab
It has been more than 7 years since I visited Kerala. This visit also marks the last family vacation we made. Before leaving, I remember that I told people about how it would be my our last vacation. Never realized that years down the line those words would still hold true. After that came my ICSE, 11th and 12th, entrance and finally college. I have travelled across the North and South of India between these years with parents. But it was never a vacation. There was supposed to be a vacation in October, 2018 but circumstances dictated otherwise. I am not complaining. If not today then perhaps tomorrow?
Sometimes going through old posts, I recall the moments. And those moments in Kerala were beautiful. Spice gardens, Chinese Fishing Nets in Kochi, banana chips, my first taste of filter coffee, looking at film posters pasted on walls in Trivandrum and wondering why do all the Malayali actors have moustaches and also a meeting two young nurses in train en route to Trivandrum from Madras Central whose stories made the night journey fantastic. They bought me a full deep fried banana from a station vendor. The taste was horrible. I pretended. I smiled. My personal favourite was the Munnar – Periyar region. The only hill station of Kerala with its acres of tea and coffee plantations, blue skies made for a lovely scenic beauty. All the images in this post are from that region.
Yes, the winter of 2011 was enchanting.
beautiful 🙂
